Costa Deliziosa Cruise Review by Marjo88
- Sail Date: February 2017
- Destination: Caribbean
- Cabin Type: Balcony Premium
We had a supreme balcony cabin on the 6th floor, the room is large with lots of storage, great balcony, but some days hard to enjoy with all the smokers, Costa one of the few cruise lines that still offer this, which I found dangerous because of the rude smokers flicking there ashes and cigarette butts overboard. Our cabin Stewart Jesmar, was wonderful, a very hardworking young man, always making sure that everything was perfect for us. Dinners in the dining room were wonderful, and yes they are slow paced, but what else do have to do? Enjoy your dinner and have fun with your dining guest. Both cruises we had a great group of people we ate with. The food is very good, you have a great variety and lots of courses, so you will get full. Breakfast and lunch in the dinning room, were ok, but most of the time the food was good, but a real language bearer with other guest they would sit you with, wish they would sit you with other English speaking guest.
The evening entertainment was good, some shows were better than others. The dancers were very high engery.
The pool areas were always crowded, very hard to find a chair as most were reserved from first thing in the morning with no one sitting in them for hours. The pools and hot tubs were filled with kids, it would be nice to keep the back area as adults only. Also they allowed smoking on one half of the back pool, area, you could not sit out there to eat as the smoke drifted everywhere and the smokers smoked wherever, RUDE. And the security people turn the other way, I would have to ask security to tell these rude smokers to butt out.
We found that costa has cut cost such as less staff only 900 staff to 3000 guest, no lobster dinner, cruise ports were we had to tender was very slow as there was less tender boats and smaller ones. They also landed on less desirable cruise docks that were cheaper docking fees.
Also I noticed that a large number of staff smoke, and they always hung out on the 2 level outside, these were mostly maintance, and shop staff where did they get all the free time, while the other staff members in house keeping and food services barely had time to sleep. This deck was the best deck to walk on and was always filled with smokers and ashes, terrible,

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata)Best to stay at the port, which has a great pool, with free lounge chairs, there is a crew store right under where the zip line ends, you can find cheap beer, for $2., don't don't bother with beach next door, long walk, expensive beer and chairs and you need water shoes, not a nice beach.View All 727 Amber Cove (Puerto Plata) Cruise Port Reviews
