We chose a Viking Ocean Cruise because of our previous wonderful experience with the Viking River Cruise of the Rhine. We wanted, therefore, to cruise the Northern Mediterranean on Viking's new ship, The Viking Sea, We found the ship to be beautifully designed and, although it accommodated 930 passengers, it did not sacrifice service or the intimate environment we liked of Viking's River cruises. The overall service, cabin, wait staff, including the head waiter, Angel, who graciously provided gluten-free choices was excellent. The clinic and the physician in charge was attentive, provided knowledge-based service to both my wife and I, which enabled us to enjoy most of the offerings of this cruse.
The onboard enrichment activities were interesting. However, we would have enjoyed additional historical lectures from university professors.
We traveled as a party of four and made our airline reservations through Viking Air. I was not booked along with my wife and two other members of our party for the flights from Paris to Barcelona and from Rome to Paris. Therefore, I was not seated with them. This is our major criticism of our journey.
Cabin Review
Well appointed furnishings, which maximized the space. Bathroom was spacious. Veranda was an appropriate size.

Toulon
The coast line was beautiful, which we saw from the vantage of a small fishing boat. The operator of the boat, however, ws singularly uninterested in the people on the boat or, it appeared, in taking us out on his boat. The guide valently tried to make up for the emotiona cooness of the captain. This is a trip we would not do again.
Monaco (Monte Carlo)
We enjoyed our time in Monte Carlo. It was interesting to put a site with our mental pictures of Monte Carlo. Although, this would not be a place we would like to return, we found the time well spent.

We enjoyed walking around Nice and expecially seeing Eze as well as the drive along this scenic highway. We understand the logistics of getting to seeing Eze and getting to Nice to see some of it. But we could have used more time in Nice. We would have even preferred delaying our ing tour in Mont Carlo in order to spend more time in Nice. One hour just was not enough. Perhaps a night walk in Monte Carlo and more time in Nice would work.
