Friends and acquaintances said Viking River cruises were wonderful; from morning till night Viking took care to make their stay on their ship to the excursions the best! We unfortunately assumed the Ocean cruise would be the same.
The ship is beautiful, however the excursions were minimal. Realizing we were on a limited timeframe; one port per day, we choose to take advantage of using the excursions included in the cruise, thinking they would be like your river cruise excursions. We found these excursions were short and did not give much insight into the ports due to the timeframe of each excursion. With the cost of the cruise, we were hoping for much more. After the excursion, the majority of the day we spent guessing where things were and what to do.
Because we chose to use the excursions included in our package, we could not get other Viking excursions because the additional excursions always conflicted (time-wise) with the included excursions.
Cabin Review
Cabin was a bit small. Between the end of the bed and wall was less than 2 feet. When my husband (who is 6'1" tall) was in beed, his feet hung over the end of the bed, making it hard to get through around the bed. Suggestion: a larger room with a large window with no veranda if the room could be larger. The bathroom was great. Amenities in the room were excellent. Housekeeping took good care of us.
