  3. Royal Princess
We pick cruises by itinerary, and Royal Princess has a nice in this 10 day slot. The pluses: - beautiful ship - excellent service throughout- dining rooms, staterooms, and bars - good internet. Pretty fast, and a really useful free utility for onboard activities, ship itinerary, and your room account. It also does excursions, but we didn't use any. The minuses: -embarkation could be improved; very long lines outside the building at 11:30. - small room balcony. Less than 4 ft deep. - elevators!!!!!! Slowest ever, on any of the 15 ships we've been on. - the boat feels crowded. The design of Royal feels like an accomplished Accountant stripped out every little bit of open space. Feels like 3600 people crammed into a space designed for 3000. - no outdoor walk around on the promenade deck. - a rather geriatric crowd. The walkers substantially out number the bikinis. - challenging to find seating at any of the popular venues during shows or activities. - most entertainment is designed not to offend a 70 year old. We love Princess, but if we choose a cruise on this line again it will be on one of the classic ships, like Grand or Emerald. Royal is just too crowded, and trends too old.

Cabin Review

Balcony
Cabin BE R505
Good location just aft of the mid elevators, on deck 14.
Cabin is standard size, plenty of storage, and the bathroom is roomy.
Balcony is too shallow- less than 4feet.
