I have just returned from a cruise to the Western Caribbean on this cruise ship - Cuban Fusion followed by Pride of Panama. I did not enjoy the cruise at all and feel as though I totally wasted my money. The Thomson Dream was very tired and the ports of call were very run down and had little to offer. We had some poor weather and were unable to get into the port of Puerto Limon in Costa Rica and, for some reason, the itinerary changed after we had booked the cruise and it no longer went to Cartegna in Colombia - instead we had 2 stops in Georgetown, Cayman Islands and spent 3 days in Jamaica - 2 in Montego Bay and 1 in Falmouth which is only about 30 miles away. None of the ports we visited were really worth visiting apart from Havana and there were too many sea days where there was little to do onboard ship apart from inane quiz shows and Bingo during the day. A lot of passengers seemed to be on the cruise simply to drink from early morning to late at night and to lie on deck getting burnt. The drinking culture on board was reinforced by the Captain and Cruise Director who both told people "to have another drink" when they announced that we would not be visiting Costa Rica but would have to spend an additional day at sea!

On a positive note, the evening Entertainment Team were excellent and some of the shows were outstanding. The staff in the Orion Restaurant were also very pleasant and efficient.

I am afraid that we will never book another Thomson cruise - and we have been put off cruising altogether.

Cabin Review

Cabin Suite

The suite was spacious but was very tired. There was an unpleasant smell from the shower drain which our cabin steward tried to mask with cleaning fluid - but he admitted that the problem came from the drain and he was unable to do anything about that. We also had a major problem with our fridge which became very hot on the outside as well as being warm inside. We had great difficulty in getting anyone to take this problem seriously initially although the technician later admitted that the fridge was faulty and was a fire risk.
