Stella Australis Cruise Review by ltknutson
- Sail Date: January 2017
- Destination: South America
We have had on our "bucket list" an Alaskan cruise and a cruise up the western shore of Norway but after this cruise full of mountain, fjords, and glaciers I'm not sure we need to see any more.
Each day provided the opportunity to participate in an off-the-ship adventure via the Zodiacs. Groups were split up (voluntarily) based on each person's desire for a moderate or challenging excursion. Each group was assigned a very competent guide. A delightful treat awaited us at the end of many of the hikes before boarding the Zodiacs for the trip back to the ship - hot chocolate spiked (if desired) with scotch. Not something I had ever done at home, but it sure was good out there.
We were introduced to native flora and fauna - penguins & cormorants plus the occasional dolphins and one minke whale. We saw glaciers up close and gorgeous vistas from high on the side of mountains.
