We selected Royal because of the proximity to the port and ease of boarding. Check in was extremely easy this time.... Our first meal on the ship was not good, but we ate with friends who wanted to eat at 8:30. Once we went on our own and ate earlier, the food and service was significantly improved! I think the staff was just plain tired later in the day. We also booked two meals at Chops and had a wonderful time! The up-charge of $30 was a no-brainer for an outstanding meal. The main dining room was wonderful, and did not rush us at all. Spouse is in a wheelchair and the staff was so very accommodating.
Room was near the Centrum but very quiet. Room stewards and staff were extremely friendly and efficient.
As for the ports, rough start at Cozumel where the bus was short one seat....mine. Quickly remedied, they provided a 10 seated van and 8 of us went to Chichinitza in the van. The tour guise was AMAZING!!! My friend who taught history asked a few questions about the area and showed his interest. We got a PHENOMENAL tour of over an hour and a trip to the sacrificial spring in the jungle! Those on the bus, when talking back on the ship, had a 15 minute explanation of the site.
