Sail Date: Mar 2017
Cabin: Deluxe Veranda 1A

Despite now being 10 years old, the Celebrity Solstice has retained much of its original opulence and glamour since our first cruise approx 5 years ago. The facilities are of a high standard and have been well-maintained. Whilst the balcony rooms are a little tight, the bathrooms are quite large and well appointed.

However, on a 12 night Pacific cruise ex Sydney we experienced a large number of disappointing issues:

1) Lack of Information & Communication. The only announcements from the Captain were navigation information delivered in his heavily accented English. Unlike Cunard ships, there was no welcome cocktails event with the Captain and senior staff. No world news clipping service or newsletter are provided and virtually no Australian TV channels can be accessed – only several mainly US focused news Channels like CNN, Fox etc.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda 1A

Cabin 1A

Our verandah cabin on Deck 9 was a little narrow with limited storage (especially shelf) space for small clothing items. The TV offered virtually no Australian TV Channels (on ABC channel would have been nice!) and only a limited choice of mainly ancient movies (eg Ben Hur!). The bathroom was spacious and well-appointed. The deck furniture had been hammered by the weather and needed re-staining or replacement.
