I chose this cruise for the itinerary and to try a different cruise line. While the itineraries were decent (Harvest Cay was over crowded and dissappionting), the ship was a teeming mass of humanity with insufficient design and amenities to effectively handle the number of passengers. EVERYTHING was overcrowded and lacked any degree of relaxation. Insufficient pool space and lounges for sea days and all evening attractions were centralized which led to massive crowds and the need to reserve spots for the entertainment. Unless you were willing or able to pay an upcharge at the specialized restaurants every night, the primary dining facilities were crowded and service was slow and unattentive. You felt like you were part of a mass production process. Menu's were uninspired and food quality and portion sizes left much room for improvement. The buffet was the same every day and of average quality. If you wanted smoke salmon with your bagel, you had to ask for it as it was hidden away. The service was adequate, but cold and impersonal. Since gratuities are automatically added to every charge and your cruise bill, there seemed little incentive for the staff to go above what was minimally required. No one tried to make our cruise experience "memorable". The ship was definitely new and well maintained, but poorly designed to diffuse the mass of passengers. Shore excursions were rather expensive and pretty uninspiring. We had an inside stateroom as we are hardly ever there but it was adequate and kept clean. Sorry NCL, but you didn't convince us to give you another try.
