Staff was wonderful. The following people are all 10's:
Captain Kate. Loved her Confucius quotes, very personable & funny jokes.
Ansori & Shinell were our room stewards.
Loved our cabin - no in it much. Only to change clothes, brush our teeth and sleep a few hours. Plenty of storage,
Captain Kate when leaving the dock made a special left turn, so we could go past Lady Liberty!
Walked around town and saw Anne of Green Gables Chocolate Store, St. Dunstan's Basilica, walked the pedestrian Victoria Row with cute shops & restaurants, walked a few blocks to the Irish Memorial & shared 3 dozen Island Blue Mussels @ the Olde Dublin Pub in Charlottetown.
The 1st thing we saw was Montmorency Falls while we were still on the cruise ship (starboard side). The Summit was docked right under the Frontenac Hotel.
We took the local bus and got off at the Parliament building, saw the Fountaine de Tourny, the St. Louis Gate in the Ramparts of Quebec City, Plains of Abraham & the Martello Tower, the Joan of Arc statue & gardens, walked down La Promenade des Governeurs stairs (easier than going up!) walked the Dufferin Terrace past the Frontenac Hotel. Took the Funnicular down to Petit Champlain to see the 3D frescos & then we had lunch a fresco & finally Place Royal before heading back to the ship.
Again, we did our own self-walking tour, as Sydney is not that big. You can't miss the The Big Fiddle, as it is right at the cruise pier! Walked a block to the St Patrick's Museum Church & grave yard, another block to the Jost House Museum - which was super busy early in the day, so we would definitely recommend going later in the day. Down the street to the Cossit House Museum which was more authentic to the period of the house (which means - no electricity!), stopped at the Old Triangle Irish Alehouse downtown for lunch. Visited Ed's Book Store and had an interesting political conversation with the owner.
Walked along the pier to the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. Easy walk from the cruise pier. It was $8.50 Canadian per senior. There were two floors and there is an elevator. Also included with your museum admission is a tour of the CSS Acadia ship & the Theodore Too Tugboat which are behind the museum in Halifax Bay.
We did the 1st floor in the AM, went out to lunch and came back to the 2nd floor for the afternoon. The most interesting section was the Titanic exhibit. We learned the differences between the steerage class, middle & 1st class passengers: 1) cost of their cruise 2) what they were served at meals and 3) how large their cabins were.
Definitely would recommend this museum! The parrot on the 1st floor was a hoot!
