My husband and I took our first cruise alone without family or friends. Wanted a romantic get away. Because we have always sailed with Royal Caribbean and our last ship was Oasis we decided to try the sister ship Allure. We were really disappointed in how the quality has really slipped since we took our last large ship cruise with Oasis in 2010. We have taken many cruises on smaller ships but because the Oasis was so good we chose Allure.

There was no welcome drink as you stepped onboard as in previous times. The food in the American Icon was very boring. Our waiters weren't consistent, and it would take up to 60 minutes for a table for two to receive our entre . We were lucky to be able to have a table alone, which we requested as we didn't want to sit with strangers.

One of my most anticipated things about the cruise was a relaxing breakfast off of our private deck overlooking the ocean. We set out our request for breakfast between 7:30-8 AM. Got up a little early in case they came at 7:30 and they didn't arrive until 8AM and the food was so cold, the toast was the texture of cardboard. Very disappointed. We did order room service once more on our last night for supper because the ship was moving so much due to strong winds and I wasn't feeling my best so decided to eat in room. It was hot and very delicious and portions were great.

We enjoyed walking the streets and the shops. We ate at a little cafe called Pasanggrahan Royal Guest House. It had a sweet patio. Very unique.

Nassau

We only went for a walk and into a few jewellery stores.
