We chose this cruise because we hadn't been to any of the stops in Malaysia but we had been to Thailand before. Overall the trip was great and the ship was showing it's age in some places (like the pool deck). The ship is schedule for dry dock in March 2017. Our room was comfortable and clean. We found staff to be friendly and outgoing if treated with courtesy and respect. Food was descent although because of the different cultures on board there was always an mish/mash of choices. We are not "formal" type people who enjoy hauling tuxedo's and formal gowns in our luggage across the world. Image my surprise to see Asian women in full kimono's. They were beautiful but I can't imaging trying to pack something like this!
PRO's: since Princess treated this as 2 separate cruises that means all our Platinum benefits "reset" on the day 5. That means more free internet minutes, more free booze, more free laundry, you get the idea.
CON's: had to argue with bar staff that we had purchased our drink package for the entire 9 days not just the first 5. This took a couple of heated discussions with several people before a hotel manager told me we needed to update the drink sticker on our room cards. New stickers no more problems. We had to get off the ship in Singapore for several hours and were issued an "In-Transit" voucher. (please note we were allowed to keep our luggage/belongings in our room during this time). I guess this had something to do with Singapore customs/immigration as we had to stand in very long lines getting off the ship and then had to re-board with all the passengers joining us for the 4 day portion. This process was a HUGE MESS.
Went to the Langkawi Sky Bridge and trekked to the top via a jungle path. Pathway was very steep with dense vegetation. Very hot and not very enjoyable.
