Celebrity Equinox Cruise Review by Prewelli
- Sail Date: February 2017
- Destination: Western Caribbean
- Cabin Type: AquaClass
The first 10 days of the cruise were fantastic, good ports, nice crowd on board good vibes. The Mardi Gras cruise was completely different. There were some people on the cruise for Mardi Gras who were determined that all guests should be involved in the Mardi Gras 'buzz' but people have different ways of joining in. Our friends came from all over and we had a good time in our own way. But Celebrity did not seem to have enveloped the theme as much as we would have expected but perhaps this was because it was the first visit. The CD John Grantham and Justin Actovities Dorector were great. Organisation by Celebrity could have been better re access to ship in New Orleans.
The second 11 days on several occasions we ate in the MDR but did not enjoy it as much as Blu for no other reason that it was much bigger!! The food was fine. The first wine waiter we had in the MDR corrected both my and my friends knowledge of wine, which even if it was correct is inexcusable to a customer. It was not correct. Unsurprisingly we then had a different wine waiter who was much more customer friendly.
Blu restaurant was superb with amazingly efficient maitre d' and hostess. It was lovely to see some friendly faces from Eclipse Vinod and Joseph.
Disappointed with Celebrity's premium wines - we went to a wine appreciation event and were surprised at the poor quality. It is one area Celebrity need to improve.
Went to the World Bar where I could get a drink as I had the premium package but husband could not as he was classic- not even a gin and tonic.
Cabin Steward Elvin was fantastic.
We thoroughly enjoyed the cruises but the second just seemed to miss the mark. Strangely although identical Equinox did not have the ambiance of Eclipse - but maybe our expectations were too high.
The standard of cleanliness, the food, the officers and staff were in the main outstanding.
