The Millennium is an older ship; we last sailed on her in 2004. After reading all the negative reviews, we were skeptical of what we might find onboard. However, we were pleasantly surprised with lovely, redone public rooms and an extremely clean ship. Yes, you could see the wear on the wooden handrails and the paint was chipping around the sliding doors in the cabin, but we saw constant maintenance while we sailed. For the last several years, we have been sailing on the newer Celebrity S class ships and had forgotten how wonderful the M class ships were. The size of the ship is perfect for easily getting around, the storage in the cabin is better, and the bathroom is larger with more storage. Yes, you will see some wear on the ship, so if you like sparkly and new, maybe the Millennium is not for you. The service we received on the ship was some of the best we have ever experienced. From our stateroom attendant, who was phenomenal, to our waiter, who was efficient and pleasant every night, to the servers in the evening Elite cocktail parties, who went out of their way to serve you what you requested, to the friendly Captain's Club officer, who had a cheerful attitude every evening, we experienced nothing but the best service on the Millennium. Another bonus, was that the captain and his staff made themselves visible around the ship and were always friendly and accommodating. For us, the service was definitely a plus. We ate most evenings in the main dining room and had breakfast and lunch in the café. We were off the ship quite a lot, so ate many lunches in port. Two evenings we went to specialty restaurants and enjoyed the food in each. The food in the dining room and the café were average for us. Several nights, we really thought our dinners were excellent, but on other nights just average. The food was never terrible, and if you didn't like your selection, they would bring you an alternate choice. We ended up returning to the same waiter every night, so he helped with good recommendations that were always on point. His service was terrific. The entertainment on the ship was very good. Our group thought that the Celebrity singers and dancers were some of the best we had seen. The evening shows we went to were varied, entertaining, and well attended. Around the ship you could always find small musical groups to listen to. We enjoyed most of what we heard and saw. We chose the Millennium for the itinerary. We loved all the ports and the beautiful sights in each. Starting with Hong Kong, then several days in Vietnam, an overnight in Bangkok, and finally to Singapore, the itinerary was amazing. We spent two extra nights in Hong Kong and enjoyed our first trip there; the only negative was the smog and all the construction. Vietnam turned out to be our favorite because of all the varied sights and the tours we booked through Travel Authentic Asia. Since the ship was in Bangkok for two days, we decided to spend the night in the city at the beautiful Shangri-La Hotel which was amazing. We also spent two extra nights in Singapore and our expectations were exceeded by both the city and the lovely Intercontinental Hotel. Our first Asian adventure was fantastic thanks to the Celebrity Millennium, its captain and crew, all the staff who waited on us in such an exceptional way, the beautiful ports, and all the wonderful fellow cruisers we met on board.
