I'll start by saying I'm a RCCL loyalist and love the various Royal ships. The most egregious offense was the food. I thought I was on a Carnival ship. In Windjammer there are 4 main areas food is available. 3 of the 4 area served the exact same options. Meal options were for the most part exactly the same day after day. You would think the kitchen was run by someone that previously ran a college dorm cafeteria. Food options are the cheapest options money could buy. Things like baloney, mashed potatoes with a layer of oil on it, spaghetti, white rice, some flavorless breaded fish are examples of what you will find EVERY day for lunch. You're lucky to find only one item that changes day after day. You can image after 12 days your taste buds want to revolt.

I was able to talk to a family of 10 that had been on the ship a year prior and they too could not believe how badly food, service and entertainment had fallen off. It was bad enough for them to rebook a 2018 sailing to a different vessel.

Entertainment options were something you'd expect to see if you were on a ship in the 1980s. Some nights were so bad you didn't want to stay (but there wasn't anything else happening so you didn't have much other to do than suffer through it). Read more
