Cabin: Sky Suite 2

We hadn't cruised on Celebrity in fifteen years but friends with elite status invited us to join them on a two week southern Caribbean cruise in the dead of winter and we jumped at it. They always take a balcony cabin, we took the smallest suite, a Sky suite. The Sky suite comes with all the suite perks like Michael's Club ( free drinks) , a butler, concierge, etc. It really isn't a suite as it is only one large room. And although there were a few times we heard footsteps late at night ( our room was under the Buffet, it never became a problem.) A suite on Princess has a curtain so one person can watch TV while the other sleeps and on NCL Haven there is a door between the sitting area and the sleeping area. The bathroom is nice although not that large. It has a deep tub with rainbath shower that is very difficult to get in and out of. The balcony is a nice size with two comfortable lounges and a small table. The storage in the room is amazing with ample drawer space and two closets. We only had one perk ( free gratuities) and bought the unlimited internet before while still at home which was a great idea. Our friends had a beverage package which they really enjoyed. Our butler brought us bottles of water and we started to go to Michaels right before dinner and brought wine and soda into dinner with us and no one said anything. The food on the ship is great. The meat tender and tasty. On Lobster night every one had two or more tails. Because our friends were not in a suite we had dinner with them almost every night in the main dining room. Their food and service was better than Luminae. The few choices in Luminae ( the suite dining room) were weird and we almost always asked for the main dining room menu. The specialty restaurants are excellent but next time I will skip Q-sine ( just a gimmick ) at a high add on price . The first night they had a two for one at Murano ( great) and we got two free nights because we were in a suite

The social director Eddy Jenkins has a wonderful sense of humor and we had a good time at the regular bingo, trivia ( very popular) . The entertainment was terrific with outstanding specialty acts like the comedian Wayne Cotter, These guys, Fly boys, a Biller Joel type singer, a super brilliant young pop violinist etc. The three production shows were terrible and weird with the young performers singing their hearts out to awful messes of scripts.

At every island it was easy to get a tour on the pier from the locals but you were often in a van with 15 other people. The one time we took a ship's excursion was a disaster. The content of the excursion was good (Barbados caves and green monkeys at a nature preserve) but there was no direction or help from the excursion staff on exiting the ship, finding the bus. Also it would have been nice to know that you needed a hat or rain jacket in the caves as it continuously dripped on your head and that the nature walk was dangerous for anyone with mobility problems) the monkeys were great and we saw tons but the way we were force marched 15 minutes to find our bus when everyone else was directed to a shuttle put a damper on the beginning of the tour. The bus was described as luxury transportation. Only if you don't mind sitting on a wheel hump.

Sky Suite 2

Cabin S2

Large single room with tremendous storage space and very nice balcony. Under Buffet but we rarely heard any noise.
