We are in our mid-sixties and very experienced cruisers on all the major cruise lines, but this was our first time on Holland America. All in all we had a wonderful, relaxing time, mostly thanks to great weather, nice ports and terrific specialty restaurants. The ship is very pretty and comfortable and every person working on it was nice and friendly. Our fellow passengers were various ages, but mostly seasoned travelers and it was always pleasant to talk with them. We were onboard for ten nights, many people stayed on for 21 nights. We will divide this review between the positives and negatives.

Positives:

We booked a package of 5 specialty restaurants for $119 pp. This was a real highlight. Every single one was great. We went to the Sel de Mer, Tamarind, Pinnacle Grill, Canelleto and Culinary Arts Center, spreading them out over the course of the ten night cruise.

Cabin Review

Verandah Stateroom

Cabin V

Our cabin, 6130, had an extra large balcony because of the bump out by the lifeboats. The shower was the best we have ever had at sea, and better than most on land. The room seemed a bit cramped but it was certainly ample. The hairdryer and makeup mirror were good. The shampoo and conditioner in the shower were good. I did not care for the scent of the body wash, so I got a bar soap. The bathroom could have used a bit more shelves or drawers for storage.
