I must say I was worried before joining this cruise by a lot of very poor reviews on this site. However, it was pretty good on the whole, and the good definitely outweighed the bad. Many of the complaints I read about before sailing referred to: a) The ship being dilapidated, carpets worn, bed linen stained, curtains torn, etc. This was not the case at all. Yes, it is an older vessel, but is well maintained. Our stateroom was smart and clean, as were the public areas. b) Unfriendly staff. Definitely not - in fact this cruise was above average in this respect. c) Poor food. Again, in my experience, not an issue. From my point of view, good points were: Our stateroom - clean, comfortable, everything working, well serviced (Muladi was first class) Embarkation and disembarkation - both were efficient and quick. Cafe al Bacio - good coffee, pastries and service. And even better when the Odessa Duo were playing, excellent string duo. Qsine Restaurant - I generally feel specialty restaurants are poor value and a waste of time, but this was the exception. Really excellent food, interesting, huge range of dishes and tastes, attractively presented and with attentive and efficient service. Less good aspects were: Staffing levels in the main dining areas seem to have been reduced. This meant that waiters and especially sommeliers were always scurrying around and occasionally there were annoying delays. Laundry - who on earth washes but does not iron shirts??? The Martini Bar - normally a favourite, but this one definitely was not. The bar staff seem to see their roles as primarily entertainers and jugglers, and were condescending if not downright rude to some customers. Happily this was not the case in all the other bars. "Evening Chic" nights. Celebrity need to sort themselves out on this. There was no attempt whatever to ensure that smart attire was worn in the main restaurants on "evening chic nights, some people wore tee shirts, trainers and ordinary jeans.

Enjoyable
