It's an easy flight for us to Fort Lauderdale, and $15 cab ride from the airport to Port Everglades, where we experienced a smooth embarkation and our first delicious meal in the Oceanview Cafe while waiting for our cabin to be ready.
This was our first cruise on a Celebrity solstice-class ship. It is a beautiful ship, and rarely feels crowded thanks to the design of passenger flow as well as the efforts of the staff with activity scheduling. It seemed strange that there is no elevator bank aft (just forward and midships) but we rarely had to wait for an elevator and everything we visited from our midships location was easy to reach.
We went early to dinner most evenings in the main dining room, grabbing a window table and watching the sun set as we ate excellent food. Our MDR staff were wonderful - we called them the 3 Rs (Rodel, Rowel, and Randy) - they were efficient, friendly, and unobtrusive. Breakfasts and lunches in the Oceanview Cafe and AquaSpa cafe were good. Room service breakfast was so-so; we didn't try any other room service and didn't pay the premiums for specialty restaurants.
A comfortable and well-designed cabin with an extra large (deep) "hump" verandah. It could sleep 4 (we were just 2) although of course it would feel less spacious. Marvelous bathroom for a cruise ship, with a great shower (sliding doors!). The location is great - midships, a few steps away from the "hideaway" with its quiet nooks and self-serve coffee and tea, and the banks of elevators that get you anywhere you want.
