I just took a flyer on this cruise as it was my first, and the price was good. I'm glad I did, and I've already booked two more cruises elsewhere.
Freedom was very nice, clean, and easy to get around. Food was very good for the most part. I wasn't thrilled with the Sun King steak House, but I'm a steak snob. They must use USDA Choice instead of Prime meat. There is a difference. Put it this way... In my area I only get steak at places like Del Friscoe's, Capital Grille, Bob's Steak and Chop, Ruth's Chris, etc. If you're familiar with those, then you'll understand when I say Sun King is a step or two below. So I won't spend the $70 there again.
But that aside, I wasn't unhappy with the other food choices in the main dining or the buffets.
Having been to Cozumel before I was familiar with the island and how to get around. It's very safe. We walked off the ship and took a cab to the Money Bar ($10). The Money Bar is a beach club that has great food and drinks, tables and loungers on the beach, waitstaff who bring it all too you, lockers to keep your valuables when you get into the water, and GREAT snorkeling right off the shore! We had ad rink, snorkeled some, came back to eat and drink, snorkeled more, drank more... Spent about 4 hours there and cabbed it back to the port. No hassles, no lines, no groups, and great food! You've got to try the ceviche there, it's the best!
