First let's start with the ship itself....she is BEAUTIFUL! Clean, modern and massive! It was like being on Oasis again, but a little more special. The tech upgrades were fantastic (WOW Bands and Royal IQ app) and really proved to be convenient throughout the trip!
Before I get into how amazing the everything was, I will give my ONLY negative review of the ship (besides the annoying drunk women in the Schooner Bar every night) and that would be THE FOOD! Seriously Royal Caribbean....get it together! We specifically paid for specialty restaurants 5 times and with the exception of Izumi's hibachi experience, they were all less than impressive. Although, unlike the usual "Sodium Surprise" you get in the main dining room or the Windjammer....the food was just boring and pretty flavorless. We don't cruise for the food and we aren't sitting there feasting all day....but it would be nice to know that when we did want to eat, the food would be worth the prices we pay. The exception to this was the Coastal Kitchen....it proved to be a nice alternative for 3 of the nights and the food was always pretty satisfying. (We went to Jamie's Italian (bland), Chop's (decent, but predictable), Wonderland (good concept, bland delivery), Sabor (yawn) and Izumi (YUM!))
OK, so all that aside.....WHAT A TRIP! After discovering earlier in the morning on the day of departure that our friend left his passport at home....we immediately went into a panic.....BUT.....for those of you wondering.....RCCL will accept a copy of your birth certificate for Caribbean itineraries.....but CALL FIRST!
TOP NOTCH! Clean, spacious and a deck that makes it all worth it! Quiet floor with no noise at night! We usually stay on 14 but that is right below the pool deck, so being a little lower makes ALL the difference with noise control!
