After being on 10 cruises, with 4 different lines, we decided it was time to give Holland American a try. If you wee not over 60, you did not fit in, it is a much older crowd! The food was just like any other, except when it was Gala night. The surf and turf was excellent. The entertainment was lacking. I don't consider movies entertainment. I never saw an activities director. The activities were card games, bingo, seminars pushing their services, trivia, etc. Now, don't get me wrong, I didn't expect silly pool games and the such, but some music at the pools would of been nice. They also don't push the drinks or the photos as other lines do, but they do have a very nice Happy hour from 4-5pm with the first drink regular price and the second only 2 dollars. The cruise director is very nice, but she needs a new wardrobe...she wore the same dress (which was not a uniform) 3 of the 7 nights! All the crew was very professional and always there to help you with any needs. I'm just not sure this is the right cruise line for my husband and myself!
The cabin was very roomy with much more closet space than expected! The balcony was great!
