My wife and I just returned from a 5 day cruise on the Carnival Sunshine. This was cruise number 17 and the second time on the Sunshine. We had a great time, always wishing we would of done more. As far as being a long time cruiser we have noticed cutbacks but it did not affect our overall cruise. I noticed less housekeeping staff and they ask you If you would like your room cleaned in the morning or the evening. We just said we would like it cleaned twice per day. First night we ate in the Steakhouse and loved it. Took advantage of the 50% off our bottle of wine and ordered a pricey bottle of French Champagne. Excellent service and food. We ate in the main dining room every morning and 3 evenings. Had no complaints, very good service and food. On the last night we ate in the Italian restaurant called Cucina del Capitano. We simply loved the food but more important, the service was wonderful. Our two servers Isaura and Olivera made your feel very important. They were very knowledgeable on the menu and truly cared about your dining experience. If your board the Sunshine soon ask for Isaura and Olivera in Cucina del Capitano, they will take care you very well.

Pools and Serenity very crowded but you could find a time of day to find a spot either very early or late afternoon. Outdoor entertainment screen for movies was not working for some reason but movies were played inside. Comedy acts were great, we did not watch any of the main shows on this cruise. Time just flew by and we always seemed to miss things. Yes we spent a lot of time in the casino and even won a little. Earned the free drinks at 1000 points for a 5 day cruise. The Casino staff was great, friendly and very caring. Even the housekeeping staff in the casino was very friendly. We stayed on the ship while visiting Freeport and Nassau. Half Moon Cay was great, enjoying walking the paved path. So overall we loved the cruise and cannot wait until the next one. We are already planning :-). One last thing the overall customer service on the "entire" ship was OUTSTANDING. I never seen an entire ship before just truly care about customer service. Kudos to the Cruise Director Emma, she was a bundle of energy.

Port Reviews

Port Canaveral (Orlando)

Drove to Port Canaveral and used the parking garage. Easy access.

Half Moon Cay

Great island for hiking, swimming or relaxing. Easy access for your lunch which the ship supplies. Several places to get drinks, bathroom, etc.
