  3. Norwegian Jewel
Having been through the Suez twice, we wanted to do the Panama, & were really pleased that we choose the 'Jewel". We had 3 days in Long Beach, staying at the Hyatt Regency, which was great, prior to boarding, which was a disaster. There was no organisation at all by the port authority, & was where you learnt that you can lose a suitcase if you do not pay a 'gratuity' to the handlers quayside. ( one passenger lost a case, which contained their medication, & was told at quayside " that is the last time you will see this case ", & it was! Once on board we were offered a lunch in the buffet, which was excellent, & when we got to our inside cabin on deck 9, were very happy with the bathroom, especially the shower ( with sliding door ) but less so with the toilet, which you had to sit sideways on, as you would only fit on it if you were legless ( very bad design ) We had the majority of our meals in the Tsar's restaurant, which we found to be excellent, & the stall excellent. We had a number of light lunches in O'Sheehan's Irish Pub, which were also excellent, especially the 'Fish & Chips', & again the staff were excellent. The couple of times we had anything to eat in the buffet, the food selection was excellent, & tasty, but the "bun fights" getting it, & finding seats, was not to be tried by the faint hearted. We did not go on any of the cruises excursions, finding them to be expensive, so did our own thing ashore, which was fine. The entertainment on board in the theatre was excellent, & really appreciated.
