Traveled with children

We were a group of 8, 2 sets of grandparents, and a young family who have all sailed many times before with Carnival. The kids chose to sail on the newest ship. We were all on deck 1 in three different cabins. The ship is new and huge, but the public areas felt small. Be prepared to wait 30-90 minutes to use some of the things like water slides, rope course, or sky bikes. I've never had such a hard time finding an open deck chair, don't even think about trying to use the Serenity deck. Those few spots are filled by 6:30 AM by towels and books. Very few people, just empty chairs. Carnival really needs to do something about removing stuff that folks leave after an hour or so.

The main theater is super small, has pillars blocking the view in a lot of places, and incredibly, they remove chairs and move the stage out into the center of the theater! That being said,we have never had such good entertainment on a Carnival ship. The shows were well done, with LIVE musicians for several shows. :) The vocalists and dancers were also good. We went to several of the PG comedian shows, and they were funny without being disgusting. (One show last summer dealt almost entirely about the guy's prostrate gland... NOT funny!)

The food was much improved from our last cruise last summer. We all enjoyed the "Local flavor" option. Another new thing to us was the home made ice cream in the buffet area. The cruise director Matt, was wonderful. FUNNY, always doing something with the passengers, and quite creative.

Cabin Review

Porthole

Cabin PT

We had two adjoining cabins. 1294 was quiet, and those folks loved the cruise. 1290 is directly above the crew disco! It took several phone calls and trips to guest services before the source of the booming bass beat was discovered. The folks in 1290 love music, but not just the bass, and not that late! The music was turned down, and then off for our cruise, and a cash credit was issued by Carnival, so at least the managers were trying.
