The lure of the Danube and the cities in that part of Europe called us. We arrived in Budapest a few days before the cruise and ended our trip by flying to Amsterdam for a few days before returning home. Embarkation and disembarkation were handled so nicely by Viking. We barely had to think! Budapest and Amsterdam were both awesome! We were so glad we had added these extended stays.
We traveled with another couple, good friends. This couple had taken a previous River cruise with a different cruise line and they commented that perhaps Viking was a tad nicer and a tad more economical. All four of us loved having beer and wine included at lunch and dinner though we did feel that this feature should also be included during the cocktail hours.
We obviously were so happy with Viking that we booked a Rhine River cruise for this coming October! Can't wait!
Cabins are compact but fine. Who really spends much time in the cabin anyway. Bathroom was very nice-loved the heated floor! The veranda was great going through the locks, and gave the cabin a feeling a being a little bigge. Both cabin and bathroom were immaculate and kept that way throughout the cruise.
We thoroughly enjoyed the WWII tour of Nuremberg.
All the imperial cities were both so historic and and quaint. Here we also liked the BMW factory tour! Unfortunately, they were not giving out "samples."
All the excursion tour guides were both amazing and charming. Passau was beautiful, and the shopping was very nice. I bought a very pretty sweater in a very nice shop.
Nice tour. The only comment I would make is that it would have been better to be in Vienna for more than one day. Not enough time.
