My husband and I just got off the royal princess for a 10 day carribean cruise. we enjoyed it very much, but were not terribly impressed by this new class of ships as we miss the promenade deck and cant understand the reasoning of the fountain instead of another pool, especially on a ship that spends much of it time in warm climates. Never the less we were on a cruise and the weather was good so how can I complain? we had a balcony room on the lido deck. the balcony although smaller than many of the princess ships we have been on was fine for the two of us. the location was quite and convenient to the pools and horizon court, but quite a haul from the dining rooms and theatres. we had no issues with the food. There are many options so I cant imagine you couldnt find something to eat if you were unhappy with something. we ate part of the time in the main dining room at a traditional seating, other times at alfredos or the horizon court. The Horizon bistro is just before the horizon court and tends to have lighter fare and is open only at breakfast and lunch, then the pastry shop (yummy cookies) and then the traditional horizon court.
we were happy with most of the entertainment. loved the singers such as teacake and the flyboys, not so impressed by the production shows or the comedian, but again the options are many and you are bound to find something you like. I will be happy to use princess again but would prefer one of the older ships with the promenade deck and more pool options.
no whales, but dolphins
did an island tour that was great, small group and very informative
