Traveled with children

My prior cruise experience has been on Celebrity - one Med cruise and two Caribbean cruises. I picked Norwegian this time because of date, price, and age of party members. This was my first time having a child along, and I knew that Celebrity would not hold the attention of the child or of the member of our group who was in her late 20s.

Date was very important to us as we were working around school holidays. So our options were limited to begin with. I researched everything before deciding on the Epic: port of departure, flight prices (party consisted of folks from Ohio and the UK); hotel prices (we flew in the day before); car rental to/from airport and departure port (we like to make our own schedule).

Cabin Review

Family Balcony

Cabin B3

Bed near balcony. Liked the location. Close to stairs/elevators. Easy walk up to buffet and pool deck on 15. Needs more plugs. There were only two for charging (but assume all cabins are the same). Lights could've been a bit brighter for applying makeup, but overall good. Liked the small, flexible reading lights. We slept with the balcony door open most nights.

Port Reviews

Port Canaveral (Orlando)

We had no problems at Port Canaveral. The set up is different than Port of Miami, but those differences didn't impact our trip.

St. Thomas

We went to St. John on our own. We've been to this port before and to St. John before. Great stop! Very easy to get around. The taxi people know where you want to go, even if you don't.
