The cruise was a 2 week getaway from the NYC winter without having to fly. It also had 8 ports 2 of which were new to us. This was our second time on the Breakaway and I was at first hesitant to book again because of the difficulties we had in the past coordinating dinners and shows for our group of 8. This time it was just the 2 of us and I reserved the majority of restaurants and shows before boarding and did not have those problems.

Cabin: We had a balcony room which allowed us opportunity to see the ports as we cruised and to see quite a number of rainbows, particularly in Dominca.

Dining: My husband enjoyed the fact that there was always 2 fish dishes on the dinner menu, as well as the grilled hot dogs and pizza he likes for lunch. Fish was also available in the specialty restaurants Bistro and La Cucina. Dining in the Spelgel Tent was rushed and conflicted with seeing the show there.

Port Reviews

New York (Manhattan)

I took a car service from Queens to Manhattan. It was a longer wait than usual to board the cruise ship.

San Juan

We had a limited time in San Juan arriving late, but did get to visit for Fort San Cristobal for an hour and then walk around Old San Juan.

St. Thomas

Magen's Bay is always beautiful and safe for swimming.

Tortola

A very nice calm beach for swimming.
