The itinerary of this cruise is what drew my wife and I to it. Going to the deep south of the Caribbean was very intriguing. Also the relaxed pace of the cruise, not the 5 or 6 port days in a row, was appealing too. Cartagena, Columbia (Dora the Explorer) and Puerto Limon, Costa Rica (Your Lucky Tours) are two ports that I would definitely visit again if possible and two operators I would definitely use again. Fantastic people and fun to be with. Cozumel is small and doesn't need an overnight. Spending that elsewhere would be nice. Colon, Panama is probably the dirtiest place I have seen in the Caribbean. No-one picks up any garbage at all and it is everywhere. I'm surprised we didn't see rats scurrying about. Jamaica was bad but not a bad as this. A little effort would go a long way.

The embarkation was very smooth as we were travelling concierge except for the counter person was the slowest on earth. After that all was well and we were on board enjoying the ship and what it had to offer. The curb staff were friendly and helpful which is in stark contrast to the Royal Caribbean staff that we encountered. Hard to believe that they are the same company.

By and large the ship itself was kept very clean by the helpful staff. The one thing is, and yes I know they have a tough job, you can tell when the cruise is coming to an end because the bar staff was getting a little grumpy and short with people. Having said that, if you want to have some fun go to the Martini Bar and watch those two guys perform. They are hilarious. The cabin staff, Allan, was always cheerful and warmly greeted you whenever he saw you. The cabin itself was always kept clean, neat and tidy for you when you came back. Your stuff was always treated in a thoughtful way and never in any danger of damage.

Port Reviews

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

We went to 7 mile beach with friends for the day. Nice and relaxing.

Cozumel

Starting with Nachi Cocom all I can say is what a deal!! They charge $55US and its all you can eat and drink. We arrived late, 1:30 and stayed until 6:30, and there were only about 10 or so people there. Beautiful beach, clean facilities, loads of room beautiful pool and grounds. There are resorts on either side a walk down the beach and they were packed like sardines. A great, unhurried gem.

The second day we went to the fort and onto an excellent lunch. My wife and I had the best coconut shrimp we have ever had. Great spot to relax at. The operator, Nacho, was very informative about the for and a delight to be with. I would have liked to see a bit more of the ruins but given the time of the tour that is to be expected.
