My husband, 8 year-old grandson, and I cruised on the June 21st sailing of the NCL's Sun from the Canada Place Cruise Ship Terminal in Vancouver. This was our fourteenth cruise and our third time on the Sun. We had spent the night at the Comfort Inn Vancouver Airport Hotel located in Richmond about 6 miles from downtown Vancouver. They offered a cruise package which included free parking and shuttle to the ship which saved us money on the parking since we have an oversized camper van. Embarkation was painless and we were on board, champagne in hand, by 12:30. Our room steward let us drop our carry-on's off in our room and we were off to lunch at the buffet. Since the sun was shining, we ate outside and enjoyed the view overlooking the city. /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-priority:99; mso-style-qformat:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin-top:0in; mso-para-margin-right:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:10.0pt; mso-para-margin-left:0in; line-height:115%; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast; mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;}
This time we had an inside cabin since we had found a bargain rate on it and it was spacious enough for the 3 of us. Our grandson slept on a sofa next to our bed. While the beds are still hard, they weren't as lumpy as our previous cruise. The cabin seemed clean, but once again our room attendants seemed overworked and often did not get to our room until late in the day
We tried the Seven Seas dining room once, but once again we had extremely slow service. The Four Seasons was much better with excellence service all 3 times we dined there. The food in the dining room was very good. We ate at Il Adagio once and it was very good! We ate at the buffet for dinner twice so we could eat outside. The pasta station was my favorite. The desserts at the buffet were pretty bland still consisting of some strange gelatin-like substance. However, they did have real ice cream and a chocolate fountain in which they would dip some fruit or cakes in it for you. The chocoholic buffet was wonderful and the lines moved much faster than on previous cruises. As for the entertainment we were more interested in sitting out on the deck and watching the scenery than we were in going to the shows. We did enjoy the Jean Ann Ryan Company dancers and singers. Also, the comedian Fred Klett was absolutely hilarious! We also really enjoyed Kim Doolittle's music in Las Ramblas.
Very quiet, convenient location! Hard beds!
