We did a back to back Eastern/Western Caribbean,
The first week (Eastern) was not enjoyable. It felt like the ship was substantially understaffed. There were 45-90 minute waits for a table for any-time dining. This I felt was unacceptable. It is such a known issue that Carnival has pre-printed apology cards for such instances.
This becomes a problem when trying to plan evening activities (i.e. going to a show) around dinner.
The ship in general was fine. Typical Carnival fare. It was clean and well kept.
They had the main pool closed on a sea day for painting! What an idiotic thing to do.
The entertainment was OK. Not great, but not horrible.
On the Western leg of our cruise the service seemed a little better. Dining room ran a little smoother. However if you wanted to a table without waiting you needed to get in line about 30 minutes before the dining room opened. Very inconvenient.
Over both weeks we found the food disappointing. The buffet food was limited selections and usually cold. In the dining room the a warm plate was a rarity. My wife also commented on the lack of vegetables. For example the Prime Rib came with the beef and a baked potato. The Au-Jus was served separately by the waiter, sometimes right away, sometimes 5-10 minutes later. not good. Vegetable were available as an side dish, but that was limited to broccoli. Again, limited selections.
Overall, not impressed. May be my last Carnival cruise. There is much better out there.
Cabin was as expected. Lots of storage. Well kept.
Never left the ship. Been here many times.
Went to the pool. Had a nice day.
Never left the ship.
Embarkation.
