My wife and I are Elite Plus Captain's Club members, have been sailing with Celebrity for 15 years, and had sailed with them almost exclusively since 2008. Over the past couple of years, though, I had become disenchanted with them because of a noticeable decline in service, food quality, and attention to all but suite passengers. In fact, we had booked with another line for a fall cruise but had to cancel because of illness. We only booked this cruise because it seemed to be the best option for a last minute Caribbean escape. We were pleasantly surprised and happy that we did.
Embarkation was very quick and easy, and we were delighted that as Concierge passengers we were invited to an excellent lunch in the main dining room instead of the normal "fire drill" in the Oceanview buffet. The cabins were available quickly and the luggage was delivered soon after. About as easy as the first day can be.
The ship, a Solstice class with we are familiar, is clean and in good shape. The furniture on these ships was clearly made for form, not function. It's generally uncomfortable, from the sofas in the cabins to the chairs in the lounges. Hopefully, any refurbishing will take this into consideration.
Typical Solstice class balcony cabin. Large enough, plenty of storage space. Attendant kept it tidy. Sofa awfully uncomfortable. Bed fine. Balcony and furniture adequate.
Seven ships in port, nothing much here to see.
Pretty and interesting city. Best stop on this cruise.
We had been here and had visited the Canal. Other than that, nothing here.
This is a dirty third world city. Tours to the rain forest are all there is, really, and if you've done it once, you've done it.
A nice straw market on the pier, though. Probably the best bet.
Lots to do here.
Good port for embarkation and easy, reasonable off-site parking. Wish all south Florida embarkations were from here.
