We picked this cruise based on the itinerary and price. We flew into Miami the day before and enjoyed a dinner near out hotel that evening. Embarkation was a little bit of a mess. We asked multiple people the same question and got as many different answers. Once on board things went smoothly. Our cabins were ready early enough for us to drop most of our stuff off before exploring the ship.
Our room steward was pretty good but we never had a breakfast menu for room service or our customs forms at the end of the cruise.
We purchased the 7 meal ultimate dining package. Next time I think we'd only do 5. Moderne was just ok. The salad bar was great but the rest of the dinner was just ok. If you've ever dined at Fogo de Chao or Brazzaz you'll be disappointed. My favorite dinner by far was Bayamo. It was absolutely worth the up charge on top of the package. La Cucina was also wonderful and a close second. The other specialty restaurants were good, just not overwhelmingly amazing.
Not much to do if you don't book an excursion. We walked around a bit and found a cigar bar.
We took a taxi to Atlantis and just checked it out. Don't go into the straw market unless you want to get approached constantly.
