We chose Explorer for 22 family and friends( eleven cabins) to celebrate my mother's 85th birthday. This included 4 children, 6 adults in their 30's and 40's , a number in their 50's or 60's and a few 70's and 80's. Many of us have done numerous cruises. All of us had a terrific time, especially the children. Those who hadn't cruised before are keen to go again.
I had read many negative reviews but we couldn't fault anything- food and service seemed fine.
The cruise being around the South Pacific for 10 nights attracted many young and young at heart cruisers and the nightclub was pumping every night - the DJ kept those dance numbers coming.
Loved the covered over balcony, very sheltered.
Took a ferry from right beside the Explorer across the harbour to the beautiful Manly Beach for an inexpensive fun day.
Went with family to Hideaway Resort on an island not far away- for a lovely day of snorkeling , swimming and a yummy lunch. Go there.
Exciting snorkeling around the sacred island then went to the other fab white sand beach facing the ship. Beautiful powdery sand and warm, clear water.Went for a jog, much of it was in the shade.Lots of happy passengers enjoying themselves. Many beach vendors selling reasonably priced fruit, coconuts and cooked island food.
Took one of the buses which waited directly beside where we got out of the port for A$12 return each along the coast to Anse Vata Beach for a swim, bikini shopping and a French baguette eaten on the beach then I jogged back to the ship while husband bussed back again.Other family went shopping in the port.
