This was our 8 cruise, second on HAL.. We have been on most of the mainstream cruise line, but did notice that Holland America (Eurodam) is a step or two above the mainstream cruise line. Well done!
We are in our mid 50's and were treated with class.
We met our room steward at around 2pm and introduced himself (Osmon) and said his usual speech. The next morning, Osmon knew our names after one quick introduction and opened our door. That to me was great service. He always spoke to us by name. He and his assistant are truly a huge asset to this company.
The room had plenty of room, and DW really enjoyed the bathtub. The only complaint was that there was a terrible noise at 6am.. Complained to the reception(Mainly Ray and Chris). Ray got right down to the problem and fixed the situation. He made sure each and every night that the noise did not arise again. Even the Hotel director checked in to make sure the problem was solved and gave us a room credit as there were no room to change to. That was a surprising gesture of HAL'S part. Again great service. There was plenty to do on sea days, but would like to of seen more late night things to do besides BB'S. By the way, The duo piano players were absolutely amazing. For two people in there 20's, to know music from the 60's-present on request was truly amazing. We watched them almost every night. It was so cool to watch people walking by and everybody was singing! Everybody knew and enjoyed there music. Well done.
Steak house and pan Asian restaurants were both excellent along with the MDR for lunch and dinner. The food and selections were excellent and came out on time and presented well.
In closing, I think we have found our go to cruise line. (mind you they had to fix our card as we did not get invited to any mariner events and we were mariners and missed out).
All in all, it was a great cruise with HAL and now looking at an Alaska cruise in the near future.
