This was a 3 gen family cruise. Our third Disney cruise. Disney cruises are always perfect. They make sure you have a wonderful time. And we did. The Disney cruise app was a great benefit. We were able to see all activities, sorted by type, and we could what we wanted to note as favorites. This allowed the app to give a 15 min notice when a favorite came up. The app also let us all text among ourselves so that we could coordinate activities. This was great. Before (ok ancient history) we would bring walkie-talkies.

The food, of course, was fantastic. However, on this cruise, our evening meal service was less than perfect. On prior Disney cruises, the waitstaff had time to entertain the children with magic and extra attention/entertainment. This cruise, the waitstaff was so busy with many tables that we didn't see them except when they brought each course. And even then they were rushed. Not good. We could not find them when we needed more bread, or water or were missing a fork or knife. We had better service at Denny's restaurant! This was a total surprise since the evening meals have always been perfect. Not sure if Disney reduced waitstaff for meals. Not a good decision, if they did.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah

Cabin 05D

Great cabin. Aft towards center of ship. Low enough level where rough seas weren't as noticeable. Close to elevators but far enough not to hear noise. Veranda is on starboard side. Fireworks are on starboard so if you can't make the pirate party and fireworks you can see the fireworks from your room. Never underestimate the value of a veranda. I get up early so after going to poolside to get a cup of coffee, I would sit on the veranda and enjoy the quiet, the ocean, the Caribbean breeze and my coffee. Later in the day, between activities and before evening meal, it is a great retreat.

Port Reviews

Castaway Cay

Castaway Cay was the TOTAL best stop on the cruise. We (adults) did the 5K which was really a great addition to the cruise experience. The beach was a hit with the kids. They were able to spend as much time as they liked there without having been told that they only have an hour or two on the other island shore beach excursions. Lunch on the Cay was exceptional. A perfect balance of hamburger/fries kids food and some really awesome bbq ribs and fish for adults. Seriously, this was the only time I got off the ship. After doing many Caribbean cruises, there really is very few shore excursions that are worth a second visit. Not true for Castaway Cay. This really is a highlight for each of our Disney cruises.

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

Did not take an excursion. Though I always like to walk around the area around the docks, the 7 fanthom rum factory is a no miss as well as the Artifacts LTD sunken treasure coin shop, I chose to stay on ship this time around.

Falmouth

Nothing worth seeing.
