Sailed out of New Orleans January 22-29 with a group of 10. Really enjoy sailing out of New Orleans. Such a unique expierience sailing down the Mississippi. We came to New Orleans a couple days early to take in all that New Orleans has to offer. Everyone had a good time. Stayed at the Riverside Hilton which is a good location for New Orleans exploring and as an added bonus allows you to walk through the outlet mall to the ship. We arrived at 11 a.m. And were on board by noon. Had lunch at the garden buffet and set out to explore the ship and its changes. The addition of O'Sheehans is a nice improvement.
All ports were great. Had great weather all four stops. Didn't do any ship excursions we just enjoy going to a local beach, enjoying the sunshine, and relaxing.
Dining was good to great. Ate twice in Teppenyaki, once at Cagney's, and once at Le Bistro. All were really good. Ate all breakfast's and lunches in Garden cafe which was fine.
Entertainment was good. Elements is a must see. Second city was fun. Magician is also good.
Used the spa one day and got a massage. The massage was ok but the prices are ridiculous. My wife scheduled it for me but I can get a better massage at home for 1/3 the price which made it hard for me to enjoy it. Won't be doing any more massages at sea.
Over all a really fun trip. We all had the drink package and had no issues getting drinks. All waiters and bartenders were great.
Really our only issues were first sea day it was really rough. They knew it was coming and didn't warn anyone. Had a couple folks in our group down for the day with upset tummys. Some kind of warning would have been nice to get some seasick pills started.
Bingo is a joke - they are absolutely cleaning up at bingo. Only played twice and won't be playing ever again.
Smoke in the casino is overwhelming. Seems to be a NCL issue fleet wide.
Some fellow passengers have unrealistic expectations on what they will receive on a NCL cruise. This is not a 5 star cruise line and you don't pay 5 star prices, therefore expecting 5 star service and amenities will only lead to disappointment. It amazes me the way some people treat the staff and fellow passengers. I have always believed that cruises are what you make of it. If you get on the boat with unrealistic expectations you will probably not have a great trip.
We really enjoy the laid back attitude on NCL and have 2 more cruises scheduled this year on the EPIC and the Jade. Looking forward to both trips.
Good cabin - location was fine.
