Norwegian Escape Review

Overall good experience, but heavy spa add-on sales pressure; no Bahamas!

I chose this cruise ship and itinerary because the ship is newer, has amenities I wanted to enjoy, and was sailing to the Bahamas. The amenities were splendid. The spa was really fantastic, but the upsells are pretty ridiculous! The ride you hard to buy their overpriced products! Avoid the temptation to purchase bath salts, oils and skin brushes, as you will pay at least FIVE TIMES more than equivalent products back home.

Further, we never made it to the Bahamas. The ships azipods were not working, so we could not dock there. This was terribly disappointing. Also, my port activities in Tortola and St. Thomas were cancelled! The cruise line made a magnanimous gesture...for missing port at Bahamas, they credited each cruise cabin $50. Wow! Big deal! With all the 'upsells' on this ship, that $50 was gone within 15 seconds!

All in all, my extras aboard ship cost $2985 extra! I didn't utilize the casino. Didn't buy drinks. Didn't eat in premium restaurants but twice, Jose Garces restaurant was terrible! Waste of money, with inedibly chewy, overcooked lobster, and dismissive wait staff on the first night of the cruise.

Cabin Review

Spa Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin M9

Very small for a suite! But spa shower was nice. The best part of this cabin was full access to the Thermal Suites, which are truly fabulous. Could have lived there! Didn't want to leave that lovely space! Too bad you get such high pressure upsells by spa staff during and after treatments. I finally caved, and spent a ludicrous amount of money on their standard, high markup products just so I could get out the door for my dinner reservations.

Booked my own overnight stay at EB Hotel. Lovely accommodations, great staff, good restaurant.
