My husband booked this cruise as a quick winter getaway. He choose NCL after cruising on Royal Caribbean's Enchantment of the Seas and being disappointed with the condition of the cabin and public areas of the ship. The Sky was in good condition for it being a smaller older ship, we had a clean cabin and our cabin steward was very nice and efficient. However, the public elevators needed to be cleaned on the inside, the stainless doors and mirrors looked terrible.
The public bathrooms were not sufficient enough for the women aboard, they were small and only contained one or two stalls and some of the two stalled bathrooms had only one toilet in service. Plumbing seemed to be an issue on the ship all around, we had no hot water on on first night and they turned it on when I called to let them know, I found each evening when I returned to the cabin from the night clubs, around 1am, that the hot water was shut off and would be back on in the morning. I spoke to others and found out that one couple had no hot water in their cabin for the duration of the cruise and another cabin had a toilet issue that needed constant repair. While on their private island, the plumbing was down in all bathrooms and was not addressed until the issue became disgusting. Come to find out power was out on the whole island which affected the bathrooms and the food went cold as well as drinks were limited and warm beer was being served. We went right back on board the ship when we realized the problem.
Overall the food was good and readily available on the ship. The water was good and hot for making tea and the coffee was great, this was something we found lacking on Royal Caribbean, unless you wanted to pay extra for Starbucks.
Cabin was clean.
