The troubles with this trip started at the very beginning, embarkation. The only had a hand full of representatives to check all the gold level in making checking in take over an hour. Upon walking onto the ship it was evident this ship needs to be taken out of the cycle and placed in dry dock for major repairs, chairs falling apart, paint chipped, tables chipped, outside areas rusty, etc. Our balcony cabin had cabinets that would not close and a television with only a few stations (no movie station) that only came in at times. The shower only had a curtain and when taking a shower the entire floor of the bathroom was flooded.
Food in the Windjammer was always cold with some items not completely cooked. The food at dinner the first two nights was excellent and then it went down from there. Pizza is only available in the late night selection with only one or two choices and each is pan not thin crust and of course cold. The best addition I have not seen on other lines is the self-serve Coke machines allowing a wide variety of soda and water options with a censored drink cup. We really liked to be able to refill our cups without locating a bar open.
The Royal entertainment company was alright at best but the songs and the title of the show did not coincide. The other entertainers were not good and rather insulting to the audience especially making excuses for their inability to perform their acts correctly. There is no excuse to make it acceptable and making a joke about it only makes it worse. All in all the cruise gave us a few days away from our everyday lives but will look at other lines next time I want to go on a cruise.
Our balcony cabin had cabinets that would not close and a television with only a few stations (no movie station) that only came in at times. The shower only had a curtain and when taking a shower the entire floor of the bathroom would be flooded. Our cabin steward only made one towel animal and that was the 2nd to the last day on the ship and reused the same one the next night just moving it from the table to the bed.
First day on the ship and shows Royal needs to rethink embarkation and the impression they want to provide to the passengers.
This port is only good if you are interested in a day at the beach otherwise a quick walk around the port and back to the ship is all that is needed. This stop should have been the final day with just a few hours and then a peaceful cruise back to Miami.
