From go to whoa this was a once in a lifetime cruise! Firstly, we got this cruise at a ridiculously priced promotional fare which also included a generous OBC. Secondly, we were able to travel to a place (New Zealand) we had both visited independently in our single days, and had hoped to get back to together. And, finally, to be able to do that on a cruise, which would be hard to equal, was as good as it gets.

We flew into Sydney on the morning of the cruise and were met by a Princess rep at the airport. The transit bus we had booked on wasn't available as our arrival was too early in the morning, but we were provided with a taxi by Princess. Unfortunately, the taxi drive was a little too frenetic, and my wife was a tad green by the time we reached Circular Quay. And then we found there was no place to wait in the terminal, so we had to kill some hours before boarding without even a coffee shop to take sanctuary in! We were traveling with friends from interstate and we all found the lack of a cafe or the like was very unusual for such a well-used terminal. By contrast, the White Bay terminal which we went through a year or so ago when leaving from Sydney has an excellent cafe that was very busy on embarkation day.

Nonetheless, once embarkation commenced it was very smooth and fast. As first-time Platinum travellers we found ourselves amongst the first few to board, so we were delighted to quickly enter explore mode and were able to get around the ship before it became crowded. We were able to arrange to sign up for the Thermal Spa, again the first opportunity we have had to try this out. A quick lunch in Horizon and then we were able to get access to our balcony stateroom.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin BD

Very quiet and pleasant area; plenty of storage space. The balcony was spacious and gave us wonderful views. Our steward, Albert, was efficient and unobtrusive.

Port Reviews

Sydney (Australia)

Lovely port to depart from, and our departure day was a beautiful day as well.

Dunedin

Enjoyed wandering through the city at leisure.

Akaroa

One of the prettiest towns you could wish to see. Again, the weather was extremely kind. Plenty to see just in walking around.

Wellington

We had a wonderful day here, and saw lots in passing that we would wish to see in greater depth on another occasion.
