We recently cruised SA in 9276, aft penthouse with large balcony. We are huge NCL fans and have cruised a lot, most often in suites. We were excited about this trip and had looked forward to it for a whole year.
Sadly, the Sun ship was a disappointment. We were not prepared for the nightly noise and ship shuddering from the engines. It was really bad and would wake us up. We were very surprised at how old and shabby the ship was. It was also poorly designed. The crew was super so this review is only about the ship itself. Everyone we encountered was pleasant, very attentive and helpful. Unfortunately, they just can't totally compensate for the poor condition of the ship.
Our suite had a perpetual odor that was similar to stale cooking odors. On our Ushuaia day, the odor was pure sewage. When we inquired of our butler, he said that maintenance was working on the pipes. It stunk from the mid-elevators down and into our suite. We opened the balcony door and let the breeze blow in for some mitigation. The sewage odor was also periodically noted in the area around the 7th deck shops and whenever stewards had their service area doors open.
