We are a family of 3, dd in a wheelchair and I use a rollator. Left home on July to Seattle for two days before the cruise. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express at SeaTac. They picked us up at the airport and provided short trip transportion to shops and restaurants during our stay as well as a decent breakfast. We used Seattle Express for the trip to the ship and back to Holiday Inn Express for an overnight before flying home.We were a family reunion of 13 in 4 balcony cabins. We upgraded to a mini suite (handicapped) with an aft view. Awesome for glacier bay.Three of us from NJ, two from Hawaii and the rest from California. We boarded the ship around 11:30 and found no waiting line. This was our first time on the Pearl and found her very easy to get around. I rented a heavy duty from CareVacations and had the best experience with it. We were met on boarding by Matt Holz the acting hotel director as Denis was on vacation. The concierge was Monica and at her desk every day at cagneys. The food and beverage director was Tony Lockett, who we had known from the Dawn. He showed us a real good time. Two of our rooms were guests of Casino At Sea. Our cards and free drink cards were waiting in the room. I found the slots very tight and the process of collecting points on the card to go very slowly. In the past, I usually was able to get well over 100 points and found it hard to reach 60 on this cruise. They seem to have tightened up the point system. Anyone else find this?We received snacks from CAS several nights. We had two laundry deals in the week which were free because we were Platinum lattitudes. There were several latitudes parties, captain party and casino guest party. We had only a little rain on the day in Ketchiken but a poncho covered us and the wheelchairs and we went to the Lumberjack show. It was very enjoyable. In Skagway we went into town and shopped and then took the White Pass Railway to the summit on the handicapped car. Awesome. In Juneau we did the city tour and Mendenhall Glasier by bus and had a great time. The food was good in most restaurants, my favorite still being Cagney's. The day at the glaciers was so beautiful and clear, the glaciers were a wonder and ice floats were all around the ship.We saw bald eagles, bears from the train and sea lions. The weather was about 60 to 68 degrees each day and a light jacket over a 3/4 sleeve shirt was fine. Laundry specials were offered twice that week. One on tuesday and another on Friday. Bring tape to hold the fragile bag together. We are platinum latitudes members so we had to write it on the bag and laundry slip and the laundry was free. The laundry was returned by 6pm the following day with shirts, nightgowns, pants, on hangers and smaller items in a basket wrapped in tissue paper. It sure was a gift for me.Our life boat drill was held in the Summer Palace and went quickly.Priority disembarking was 9, 9:15 and 9:45 from the Stardust Theater. The ship was very clean, the crew were always cheerful and anxious to please. Loved the whole trip. Can't think of any complaints.Even the elevators were not a problem with two wheelchairs. We were given a pass to calll the rear elevator when we needed it.The great outdoors was a great place anytime of day.
