  3. Viking Star
The ship looked appealing, not too big (917), cabin spacious, inclusive trips every day, visited 10 islands (never been to Caribbean before so ideal), 11 day break ideal time span, entertainment geared to over 50s. We were not disappointed in any of the above. The food was excellent in variety and service. We particularly enjoyed the themed nights in the Chef's Table (with premium wine pairings if you have Silver Spirits beverage package). The entertainment was a pleasant surprise as the singers and dancers were of a high quality and Ray Michaels, the cruise director, charmed the audience every night. We mostly enjoyed the inclusive tours but advise you to check whether the optional tours (which you pay extra for) cover the same ground to some extent. Probably one tour a day is the best way to relax. There is a lot of sitting on a local bus - but you do get to see life on the island in some detail. You need to be vigilant about tour changes which can happen last minute. All in all, we had a very positive cruise experience for our first venture (we have only been around the Greek islands previously). Definitely recommend the Viking Star if you are over 50. Dancing to Motown in one of the bars was an unexpected treat!!

Cabin Review

Cabin
Loved the space: comfortably large bed; excellent washroom facilities; mini-bar filled daily; steward Albert first class; didn't fill all of the many drawers provided; sat on the balcony every day as we arrived / left new port of call.
