Sail Date: Jan 2017

We were so looking forward to sailing on one of the new Viking Ocean cruise ships. We were sorely disappointed! We have been sailing for over 25 years and have close to 1,000 days at sea. This was the second from the worst cruise we have ever taken! We were in an Explorer Suite, only the Owner's suite is larger! The ceilings were only 7 feet 3 inches in height. There was no storage space in our cabin, even in the walk in closet! Even the restaurant's had only 9 feet ceilings and were crammed with tables! Their marketing information leads you to believe that there is a stocked mini-bar in the room, which there isn't! Unless you call 2 inexpensive beers and 4 little bottles of spirits for 2 people. And, if you want any wine, you have to pay for it! And, let's discuss the wine. The included wine for lunch and dinner is undrinkable! The "premium" wine is anything but premium. If you are used to sailing on one of the luxury ships, don't even think about Viking Ocean. If you like nice wine, again don't think about sailing on Viking Ocean. Based on the price of this cruise you would think that it would be a luxury experience and it was anything but. Very poor value for our money! Not deserving of the awards that they have been given.

Cabin Review

Cabin Explorer

Very low ceilings with no storage space. Chopped up, very small furniture. The walk-in closet had only 2 small shelves and 3 small drawers. Only two extremely tiny drawers in the bedroom. While this was the second largest cabin on the ship it felt very small!

Port Reviews

San Juan

It was a very nice tour of the rain forest. We had a very good guide!

Barbados

A drive around Barbados. Not really much to see.

St. Thomas

We really liked Nelson's Dockyard, wished we could have spent more time there.
