Sun Princess Cruise Review by Batemancruiser
- Sail Date: January 2017
- Destination: Australia & New Zealand
Geraldton was a tender port and if you waited until the tours had gone you were off the boat within 1/2 hour. having been to Geraldton a number of times we walked around, ably assisted by the friendly local reviews.
Broome was a berth but we had to be bussed of, this for some reason went very slowly and we had to wait 1 1/2 hours to get into town. the pick up was at the Roebuck hotel so we enjoyed a beer and waited for the line to go down and walked straight on to a bus. some who queued complained about the wait.
Darwin was excellent, We caught a taxi and went out to the military museum, it was well worth a visit, catching the taxi made it a lot cheaper than the ship tour and you could spend as much time as you liked. We then taxied back to down, walked back to the ship via the tunnels and Darwin waterfront. If you do a ships tour treat yourself to the short walk back to the waterfront, they have done it well.
Port Douglas and Airlie Beach we just walked ashore, visited some sights. We took our bathers ashore at Airlie Beach and spent an hour in the man made lagoon.
On the boat we found the staff to be helpful and any issues we raised was dealt with in a quick and efficient manner. We have booked 3 more cruises with Princess but I may hesitate to sail on the Sun, simply due to her age.
