This was our 14th cruise, most of them with Carnival. We went with the 7 day, Cozumel Roatan and Belize trip. What appealed to me was the 2 full days at sea on the way back. It usually takes me a few days to really relax, and the idea of this sounded great. We make plans, as they say, and God laughs. We were 4 hours late getting out of port because of the fog, (no fault of Carnival), so the itinerary had to be rearranged so we went 2 days out and only 1 day back so we could make all the ports. I thought the staff of the Freedom did a fantastic job in taking care of everything considering they were doing a lot of it "on the fly", with their timetables turned upside down because of the weather. They missed a few things (robes, comp waters) in our cabin, but by the first day at sea they had made everything right and it was right the rest of the way. Our cabin steward was Agool, and he did a great job.for us.

We watched football in the afternoon, then dined at the Chic restaurant for dinner (elegant night). Lobster and prime rib. Yummy........ We hit the casino for a bit and then bed. Second sea day consisted of eating and sunning/swimming/hot tubbing, But the highlight of the day was Malcolm (the cruise director) hosting trivia. He did Motown trivia. But the cool thing was that even though you thought you were going to trivia, you were actually going to a stand up show, and a damn good one at that. Malcolm is really talented- wry and observational type of humor is my favorite, and he owns it. If you sail and miss his gigs, you are really missing out. A must see. Lots of laughs.

Next day was Roatan Island. We took the "top ten Roatan" tour, and it was alright. Lots of local history, but I felt that it was a bit too long. Looking back, I wish we had just gone to the beach. Carnival owns Mahogany Bay (where we docked), and is building a paradise there. I got to see the beach as we were sailing in, and it is first rate. Next time we will go there for sure. We sailed for Belize, and I watched "The Magnificent Seven" at the "Dive in Theatre" under the stars on the big screen. I try and catch one movie a cruise, they are really fun and different. Early bed. Hey I'm sorry but I'm old!
