Physically, this ship was lovely. Clean, attractive, elevators worked very well. Staterooms were OK, I had an ADA stateroom which was superb. Cabin steward was excellent. Although there was much to do for the children and they were well occupied, I found this ship lacking in so many ways. Lines at guest services were always too long; entertainment had to be reserved well in advance of the cruise in order to get in; same goes for the a la carte restaurants. We couldn't get in to many shows, because we did not pre reserve; going a la carte was necessary, since the food was so mediocre and service in the dining room was poor and poorer.
I have been on many ships, and the menus in the dining room changed daily to reflect the ports or other things on board. With few exceptions, the menus were stagnant. What shocked the begeezus out of me, was the fact that there were up-charges in the regular dining room!! That is nervy at best and tacky at worst. Shows were at odd times, either too early or too late. The first show was nice, the closing show in the main showroom was mediocre.
Now, for the ports...it was more like a Welcome to,"Diamonds International" at each stop, short of the private island, which I must say was lovely. However, on every other ship I sailed that had a private island, food was included. Here it was not, but what could I expect. We were a party of 10 which included 4 children (and two adults who did not speak English) No discounts were offered, so we opted to travel privately. There were no menus printed in other languages and no effort was made for accommodating these people.
Our handicapped accessible cabin was wonderfully spacious and well equipped. I did enjoy that very much
We stayed close to the ship, and it was nothing special
Nice people, just another shopping excursion
