Here's the feedback I gave Royal Caribbean on this cruise:

The ship is beautifully designed with lots of natural light. There also seems to be more public space than Voyager, resulting in less queues and a much less crowded feel.

I continue to find the pressure selling of everything from art to shoe inserts and supplements annoying. It's not a 'seminar' if it's really just another attempt to sell me something. It's a promotion. The techniques used for selling in the art auction are, in my opinion, highly unethical; give people a bit of alcohol and generate some mildly hypnotic frenzy. I believe this selling method would be prevented if you tried it in Australia.

Cabin Review

Large Ocean View Stateroom

Cabin H

A beautifully designed cabin on deck four with a huge window close to the water. A great spot to enjoy wild dolphins or just admire the beauty of the ocean and the sill is wide enough to sit in.

The cabin was dusty and there was grit/sand in the carpet but it was otherwise clean. Pleased to note no mustiness and good, adjustable air con.

The cabin is well located in a short run, right near guest services and The Centrum where a lot of parties are held. The sound proofing is excellent and even though there were many noisy activities only a few metres away you couldn't hear them with the door closed.

The shower was excellent with a removable shower head and good pressure. The bathroom was spotless.

We noted that in rougher weather there was a persistent knocking noise (sounded like something unsecured hitting something metal) and this took some getting used to. First time I've travelled without a balcony and I did miss the sea breeze and the way the sound of the ocean will mask any ship noises, but the view from the window made up for it.

Port Reviews

Sydney (Australia)

A famously beautiful city with so much to offer. While the Blue Mountains is beautiful, it will require about three and a half hours of bus travel so consider staying in Sydney and enjoying some of the amazing local attractions. The zoo is outstanding and includes a beautiful ferry ride across the harbour, past the Opera House. The train trip to the Central Coast (Gosford) passes through some beautiful waterways and will cost you less than a shore excursion. Sit on the right hand side of the train for great views.

Melbourne

A wonderful city and there's no need to book a shore excursion to have a great time.

Take bus from port rather than the tram and you'll get to the city faster. There's a free tram in the middle of the city if you want to ride one and you can always get the tram back at the end of the day.

For great shopping head to the Shot Tower in the heart of the city. Beautiful and interesting building and a huge range of shops.

Check before you leave home for any events or exhibitions that might be on in Melbourne. There's a huge selection at any time of the year. We were thrilled to be able to catch the Banksy exhibition during our visit.
